Important Upcoming Events & Dates

Our semester at the Friendship House has really gone by fast. We would just like to inform you of a few things that are happening at the Friendship House over the next few weeks.

Tuesday, November 8, we will go on a Field Trip to First Baptist Church without friends from the International Friends Group for a "Thanksgiving Tasting". We will leave around 9:00 am and come back a little after 11:00. As usual, if the children come, they will have to stay at the Friendship House with the baby-sitter.

Thursday, November 17, the ladies from Mantee Baptist Church will come for a cooking demonstration and conversation.

We will be closed November 21-25 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Wednesday, November 30 our friend Phyllis Benjamen will come to encourage us.

Thursday, December 1, 2011, Potluck & a movie, "The Nativity Story"


Our last two days of class for this semester will be December 5, the ladies from Mantee Baptist Church will come and do a Craft and fun Christmas Activities with us. December 6 will be our last day and the ladies from International Friends group will celebrate with some fun Christmas Activities as well. If anything changes, we will let you know.

We will not have conversation class this Thursday, October 20, 2011 due to Starkville School District having Parent-Teacher Conferences. We look forward to seeing you on Monday, October 31. Have a good week!

We are having class October 3, 4, 5, & 6

I just wanted to let you know that we will be having class October 3, 4, 5, & 6. However, the Friendship House van is at the mechanic's shop in Columbus. We are uncertain how long. I will not be able to drive anyone to and from class during this time. Please, find another way to come to class. If anything changes, I will let you know as soon as possible. I hope to see you next week.

Thursdays are conversation days

Thursday is conversation day. Mr. Paul will be talking about American Football in his group. We have something for everyone. Next Thursday, September 29 we will have potluck. Potluck is like a party. We each prepare and bring a plate of food to share with everyone. If you do not like to cook, you simply bring a bag of chips or cookies or something. We hope to see you there!

Garage Give-Away is coming!

The Friendship House will be closed the week of Labor Day, September 5-9, 2011, so that we may prepare for our annual Garage Give-Away. People from the community will be donating household items for our international friends to take home to setup their households. (To make it feel a little more like home.) New international students are allowed to come on Friday, September 9 and make requests. All international students are allowed to come on Saturday, September 10 and walk through the Friendship House. We look forward to seeing you there!

Announcements

If you need assistance moving from Aiken Village, please, contact me so that I can connect you with some friends that would like to help you. We need to know a few days to a week before you have to move though. Other announcements, we will have our Welcome to the USA Party on Thursday, August 18, 2011, from 5:30-7:00 pm at the BSU building on the MSU campus. Also, free English as a Second Language classes will begin on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 9-11 am. We hope to see you there! If you need a ride to and from class, please, let me know. We will be happy to pick you up in the van.

Potluck, Thursday, July, 21, 2011

For those who have been coming this summer (and those who would just like to join us) we will have potluck on Thursday, July 21, 2011, 9-10:30 am at the Friendship House. Please, bring food to share with everyone. Breakfast, brunch, or lunch food would be great. We hope to see you there! Have a safe and wonderful few weeks left of summer!

You are invited to watch a movie on Friday!

You are invited to come to the Crossroads International Friendship House Friday, April 22, 2011 "Good Friday" to watch a movie about "Jesus". Everyone is welcome to attend. We will begin the movie at 9:00 am. It will last just under 2 hours. Please, know that everyone is welcome to attend. We hope to see you then!

Potluck & Crafts on Tuesday, April 12, 2011

The International Friends Group from First Baptist Church of Starkville, will join us for a potluck meal and crafts. They will provide the craft supplies and ask that we join them in bringing a dish to share. This will take place from 9-11 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Do not miss it. It will be a fun time. Feel free to invite a friend to join us.

International Fiesta 2011

It is that time of year, again. Mississippi State University will hold International Fiesta on the "drill field" (or under the bleachers at Davis Wade Stadium if it rains), Saturday, April 2, 2011, from 11 am - 3 pm. We look forward to seeing friends from around the world, listening to music, dancing, and trying new foods. It will be a great time! We hope to see you there!
